Carevita Crescent visited a few retirement homes in Kranshoek on the 19th of September.
It was an absolute privilege to meet everyone at the homes and to listen to their stories. The team also went into the community to greet the outpatients that cannot walk or get to a center. The Kranshoek community have a beautiful day care where people can come for the day and have their meals and take part in the daily activities.
We also spoke with the wonderful Annie who is running a home called Reeca. Annie saw the need in the community and decided to start her own little home in her house. Annie had absolutely nothing at first but with the help of people she could accommodate around 9 elderly people. What really impressed us was how humble Annie is and how grateful she is for every little bit they can get. We asked Annie if there is anything we can do and her response was that she just needs help looking after her people (family). She didn't asked for anything else, she just wanted someone to come in now and then and lend a hand.
Quote: "A person's most beautiful asset is not a head full of knowledge but a heart full of love an ear ready to listen and a hand willing to help others."
